• A Week later S&M No.1 explodes.

• Lady joins the S&M and repainted Green.

• James arrives on Sodor and is overhauled.
• Thomas is given his own Branch line.
• The “Coffee Pots” are withdrawn from service.
• Bertram Topham Hatt is now Controller of the North Western Railway.
• The Little Blue Tank Engine arrives on Sodor, but is transferred back to the Other Railway.
1947
• The Mid Sodor Railway and the Tidmouth-Arlesbrugh branches are closed.
• Duke is sheeted and abandoned in a shed.
• Hughes is transferred to the Kirk Ronan branch line.
• Bronwyn is transferred to the Ballahoo branch line.
• Falcon and Stuart are purchased by the aluminium works at Peel Godred for an expansion project.
1948
• The North Western Railway becomes officially known as the “North Western Region of British Railways”.
• Bertie arrives on Sodor.
• Terence arrives on Sodor.
1949
• Henry, Gordon and James go on strike.
• Percy arrives on Sodor.
• Sir Topham Hatt borrows Thomas, Edward, Bronwyn and Hughes to work the mainline.
• Emily is loaned by Sir Topham Hatt from a private railway to help on the mainline.
• Charlies arrives on Sodor, but is shortly sent packing.

• Henry is overhauled.
• Arthur visits Sodor.
• Emily is loaned again after Henry’s accident.

• Emily is purchased by Charles Topham Hatt and is under repairs.
• 7101 arrives on Sodor.
• Flying Scotsman visits Sodor.
• 199 arrives on Sodor along with 7101, and is sent back after he fails on the level crossing.
• 7101 is renamed "Bear" and renumbered D3.
• Oliver, Isabel and Toad are rescued by Douglas and arrive on Sodor.
• Dulcie, Alice and Mirabel are saved from scrap for service with Oliver and Duck.

• The Golden Jubilee of the Railway Series is celebrated.

• The manager of Anopha Quarry is visited by the police after Henrietta is booked for allowing workmen to ride on her balconies.

• The Railway Series celebrated its sixty-fifth anniversary.
